Harald Jäger, "Der Mann, der die Mauer öffnete" besucht die DSL

Perhaps you have seen the film ‘Bornholmer Straße’. Perhaps you have also heard of Harald Jäger, the ‘man who opened the Wall’ – the film's main character Harald Schäfer is loosely based on him.
We are pleased that Harald Jäger visited us on 26 March 2025, accompanied by publicist, author, director and actor Gerhard Haase-Hindenberg, and reported on the events at the Bornholmer Straße border crossing on the evening of 9 November 1989. In the packed DSL Forum, over 300 people experienced an exciting evening, which consisted of a reading, a film screening and a discussion.
Particularly impressive was the critical and very well-prepared conversation that year 12 students had with the guest.
This evening was a valuable opportunity to view an outstanding event in recent German history from the perspective of an active participant and eyewitness. We would like to thank the guests, all the visitors to the evening and the Friends of Douglas House, who made the event possible through a generous donation.
