Award for FOS programme

Substantial DIHK award for FOS programme

FOS London/Brussels wins 40.000 Euro

The digital Fachoberschule (FOS), which was launched two years ago in cooperation between the International German School Brussels and the German School London, has won second prize (worth €40,000) in the competition for schools abroad organised by the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK).

This award is an enormous acknowledgement of the pioneering spirit of both schools, which will be releasing their first graduates into academic or professional life this year. ‘Building bridges together’ was the motto of the competition and our project does just that: it builds bridges between the continent and the island, between pupils from two schools, between school and working life and helps to create new perspectives.

The Fachoberschule is the German School London's alternative for all those students who come out of the Realschule at the end of Year 10 or who would like to follow more vocationally orientated studies in the field of business and administration after Year 10. After two years of school with a total of 20 weeks of work experience in Year 11, the doors of many universities and universities of applied sciences in German-speaking countries are wide open to our students. We are delighted that our project was selected by the jury and that the students from both schools received the award on 13 May in Berlin.
